11.24B Micropatch: All Buffs and Nerfs [UPDATE]

Riot announced an emergency hot-fix micropatch coming in right before the start of Season 12. Are you excited for any of these changes?

This patch is already out, with quite an accelerated release. I guess Riot really wanted to nerf Kassadin!

Patch Preview for 11.24B

RiotPhlox, a Designer on the Summoners Rift Team, tweeted out this list of changes that dropped on Wednesday, December 15th. Below is Riot's most recent Patch Preview tweet. This gives us the most up-to-date information on upcoming changes!

Most of these changes seem pretty interesting. We're super hyped to see Kassadin on the list for nerfs, but a little confused about Pyke getting buffed. Wasn't he good enough already?

Gwen - Base Health

What? A Gwen Buff? Is this real life?

  • Base Health: 550 to 590

Riot are really scared of buffing this champion, because she's strong in pro play. So this is just a small buff to help out Gwen in the early game, emphasis on small.

Olaf - Passive

Olaf has had a rough time in Season 11 ever since the Goredrinker nerfs. He's only good in very specific situations right now, maybe Season 12 will be better?

  • Max AS: 75% to 100%

This should be a pretty big buff to Olaf, we're glad to see this champ getting some love. Olaf mains rejoice! (if they exist?)

Kai'Sa - Passive, Q, W

Kai'Sa hasn't been too good over the last several months. She's currently outshined by almost every ADC, but used to be super OP in pro play along with champions like Rell, Leona, and Nautilus.

  • Passive: On-Hit Damage: 4-10 (+1-5) (+10-20% AP) to 4-16 (+1-8) (+15-25% AP)
  • Q: Damage Ratio: 40% bonus AD to 50% bonus AD
  • W: Evolved Cooldown Refund: 70% to 77%

These are some pretty significant changes. Riot want to see Kai'Sa in meta again, prepare to perma ban her soon!

Varus - Passive, W

Varus was a viable champion throughout Season 11, but he's currently a little weak. Riot are making some interesting moves to buff his on-hit build right now, which has been awful compared to the lethality build. 

  • Passive: AS Duration: 5s to 5/7/8/11 (level 1/6/11/16)
  • W:On-Hit Damage: 7/8/9/10/11 (+25% AP) to 7/9/11/13/15 (+30% AP)
  • W: Stack Damage Ratio: (+2% per 100 AP) target's max HP to (+2.5% per 100 AP) target's max HP

Pyke - Passive, Q

Pyke isn't really hurting right now, hence our confusion regarding the nerfs. His itemization options are insane, if he starts snowballing it's gg!

  • Passive: Ally Regen: 35% to 40%
  • Q: Damage: 85/135/185/235/285 to 100/150/200/250/300

These are relatively small changes, but I'm sure Pyke players don't mind!

Dr.Mundo - Base Stats, Q

Mundo has been a little too strong recently, so Riot are taking some necessary measures to keep him from terrorizing the rift in 11.24.

  • Base stats: HP Regen: 8 to 6.5
  • Q: Min Damage: 80/135/190/245/300 to 80/130/180/230/280

The HP Regen nerf might be a big one, as Mundo really relies on that stat. Sorry Mundo Mains!

Kassadin - Passive

We're really looking forward to this one, Riot must have something huge under their sleeves for this OP champ.

  • Passive: Magic Damage Reduction: 15% to 10%

We're slightly disappointed that he isn't receiving a bigger nerf, but effectively taking away 33.3% of his passive is a decent change. We'll take it.

Lux - Q

Lux has consistently been one of the strongest mid lane champions for months now, we're glad to see her early game power getting scaled back a bit.

  • Cooldown: 11/10.5/10/9.5/9 to 11 at all ranks
  • Base Damage: 80/125/170/215/260 to 80/120/160/200/240

These are adequate changes, we're glad to see Riot nailing the mark on this one.

Vayne - R

Vayne really needs some changes, but Riot are hoping that by buffing other ADC's - she'll be worse.

  • Bonus Attack Damage: 35/50/65 to 25/40/55

This is a pretty decent nerf. It will help to make Vayne a worse pick in the meta, along with the other ADCs getting buffed in this patch.

Talon (Jungle) - W

Talon has been a staple Jungler in the latter half of Season 11. Riot are intending to take away some of his clearing power, to take him down a peg.

  • W: Monster Mod: 150% to 130%

A 20% nerf on W isn't the end of the world for Talon Jungle, but it should help bring him into line with other Junglers in the current meta.

System Buffs in LoL Patch 11.24B

Only one change is planned in this category. Glacial Augment is set to receive a buff, due to it's underwhelming performance in previous patches.

  • Glacial Augment: Heal and Shield Ratio: 7% (per 10% Heal and Shield power) to 9% (per 10% Heal and Shield power)

We're really not sure how to gauge this buff. Theoretically, it can be huge for certain champions. However, Glacial still feels like a weak rune most of the time. Maybe we'll be proven wrong!

System Nerfs in LoL Patch 11.24B

Just like system buffs, only one change is planned here. Riot are reducing the overall power level of First Strike, since it's a little too strong on certain champs.'

  • First Strike - Damage Bonus: 10% to 9%

This isn't too big of a deal honestly. Riot needed to scale back some of First Strike's power, because it was getting ridiculous on certain champions.
